About the Project.
Chestnut Hill Realty is a boutique real estate company that specializes in selling exclusive homes in the Cleveland area. Their old site was outdated and lacked any visual appeal. Stream 9 was hired to redesign and redevelop the site. By incorporating new features and functionality the new Chestnut Hill website would be better positioned to compete with other real estate companies. The old site allowed users to browser through Chestnut Hill's listings and contact an agent, but users had to browse through all of the listings manually. There was no easy way to search or sort through them. The design also didn't allow for high quality photos of the properties. The colors were drab and dreary and was designed at a time when user's screen resolutions were much lower, so it didn't take advantage of the increased screen real estate that's available today (no pun intended).
The Solution.
The new site introduces new features as well as enhances existing ones. First, we migrated their existing property database to the new site, so they wouldn't need to manually re-add their property listings and photos - a task that would have been incredibly daunting and time consuming. The "administration section” of their site (which allows them to add/edit/delete listings) was rebuilt from the ground up to address usability issues present in their old system.
The new site also takes advantage of some very valuable new features. Users can now search for properties via their MLS# or other various search criteria such as number of bedrooms, bathroom etc. The new site also pulls listings from the MLS database (a large database of current properties for sale). Chestnut Hill listings are given priority in search results, marked appropriately and have enhanced property descriptions and photos. Listings are also pinpointed on an interactive map to help the buyer locate them. Other enhancements such as tagging individual listings as "favorites" for viewing later and emailing that list to a friend round out what has really become a far more valuable site for both Chestnut Hill Realty and their customers.
